Chard asked if we could play them in a friendly T20 to give their girls chance to experience this game format and apply the proper cricket rules , having previously only played pairs cricket. The game was played in great spirit with Deane batting first. Daisy (25), Millie (24) and Brooke(27) all having a successful time in the middle either not out or retired, practicing skills learnt during winter nets. Annabel (9) helped to start the innings off well with the right tempo running quick singles and rotating the strike. Deane scored 112 off their 20 overs. A great score considering the ball was unable to move on the outfield!! Opening the bowling for Taunton was new recruit Charlotte Wade with bowling figures of 4-0-13-1, getting her first Deane wicket. Ella Pal supported with 4 great overs bowled with consistency , constantly troubling the batters figure 4-0-9-1. Megan and Lauren both had excellent spells getting 10 wickets between them off their 7 overs, helped by great wicket keeping from both Amy and Natalie. Chard played with great enthusiasm and it was a pleasure to work with both teams and use it as another opportunity to learn the game and apply different tactics. We now look forward to our first league game v Bishops Hull tomorrow night.
*Charlotte and Ella unable to appear on scorecard as in a different squad.
