On Wednesday evening the 2's travelled to Middlezoy looking to follow on from last years success in the Intermediate Cup.
After some interest routes of travel Deane batted first. A return to Deane colours saw Dave Jessep (19) open the batting with Jacob Arscott (22). Both struck the ball well before losing their wicket, this allowed Harry Smith (85) to come to the crease & give the innings further impetuous. Whilst being well supported by Tennesse Harlow (26) , Smith struck 4 fours & 9 sixes in his innings which saw the Deane finish on 169-5 from their 20 overs.
In response Middlezoy never really got going with runs not coming easily with some tight bowling from the Deane bowlers. Rana (1-10) & Charlie Norman (0-10) helped set the tone for the Deane attack before Dom Macfarlane (2-28) in his first appearance of the season for the Deane picked up 2 wickets. Tom Burgess (2-19) also picked up wickets with good catches held by Jessep & Jason Squire. Middlezoy finished on 109-5 from their 20 overs meaning the Deane won by 60 runs.
The next round see's the 2's host Bridgwater 3's on the week commencing 19th June.
