Deane travelled to Keynsham hoping to get the win that would all but secure their escape from possible relegation having been sat 2nd bottom just 4 games ago.
Batting first on a wet pitch drying out from the previous days deluge it was slow progress all the way for the Deane. Silly run outs of Henry Mellor (11) and Jack Fraser (27) didn't help the cause. Luckily the innings was held together well by young Calvin Harrison who batting at number 4 remained unbeaten on 52* at the end of the innings. Little cameo's by skipper Sam Burgess (21) and Matthew Jones (13) got the Deane to a defendable score of 174 for 9.
In reply the opening attack of Joel Larkman 6-1-21-2 and Matt Derham 8-1-19-1 bowled very well extracting some decent pace and bounce out of the pitch reducing Keynsham to 34 for 3. The introduction of Jason Squire 7-3-11-2 and Charlie Norman 6-2-23-1 increased the pressure and with Keynsham now at 61 for 6 the win looked to be heading back with the Deane.
A solid partnership by Chris Courtney (35) and Jonathon Flynn (26) dragged Keynsham bag into the game and with a decent sniff of victory. The Skipper Sam Burgess threw the ball to Jack Fraser who proceeded to take 3 wickets in 3 overs to effectively kill the game off. With Calvin Harrison 7.3-1-22-1 picking up the last wicket Keynsham were all out for 139, 35 runs short.
A special mention to Ed our new scorer all done on the laptop, we are very impressed.
