The Cavaliers got back to winning ways with a maximum point victory over Mark. After inserting the visitors opening bowlers Tom Walsh and Steve Giles probed away forcing the batsman in to a number of play and misses, the evergreen Giles got the breakthrough dismissing skipper Lewis for 7. The unorthodox Nielsen was proving difficult to bowl too and despite Walsh continuing to go past his edge the 2nd wicket was proving difficult to come by. It was left to Giles to bowl Nielsen round his legs and produce a pearler to bowl Chinnock second ball. Just as the Cavaliers were making inroads Mark duo Ollerenshaw and Tinklin counter attacked effectively mixed in with some average bowling and fielding and some luck they combined to bring the score up to 110 for 3 at drinks. Spinner Tom Burgess got the breakthrough tempting Tinklin into a top edged sweep well caught by Giles. Ollerenshaw then perished to Eamer with Corbin taking a good catch in the deep. Mark’s last four wickets were no match for Burgess’s guile and the young spinner wrapped up a five wicket haul as the visitors were dismissed for 141.
Openers Louis Corbin and Ben Coomber were in a hurry to knock of the total and set about the Mark bowling with aplomb. Coomber hit two sixes but top edged a pull shot to depart for 19. Corbin was setting about the bowling and was looking on for a big score until he picked out point for 53. Barry Jones was joined by Charlie Axon and they set about the total without much alarm Jones unfurled a range of pulls and drives to end unbeaten on 33 while Axon finished unbeaten on 25 to seal the points.
