Cavaliers survive a sticky one!

The Cavaliers travelled to Cranmore and after losing the toss were inserted on to a proverbial sticky dog. Despite losing Dan Parson’s for 0 Dave Stephenson and Hugh Bellamy batted sensible to take the score up to 65. With both than falling in quick succession for 28, it was left to Jacob Arscott and skipper Charlie Axon to try and set a challenging total. More sensible batting took the score over the 120 mark until Axon departed for 30 Arscott looking in total command until he fell for a composed 41. Some good late hitting from Ryan Marsh (27 not out) and Josh Thomas 16 took the score to an above par 187 for the loss of 6 wickets.

Cranmore started positively with White hitting a quickfire 16, but he was Steve Giles first victim as Giles gave a masterclass of wet wicket bowling, bowling his 9 overs straight through to end up with figures of 2 for 6 with four maidens. Josh Thomas also picked up an early wicket. Harrison Hambly than produced a fine spell bowling a testing length picking up 2 wickets for just 16 runs of his 5 overs. For Cranmore Mike Pang showed the only other resistance with 44 before being bowled by Harry Phillips. A comedic run out saw Miles depart for 0 and then Billy Sully mopped up the tail taking 3 wickets for 7 runs with wicketkeeper Marsh picking up 3 catches.

A good win for the Cavaliers taking 34 points and retaining the lead of Division 5.
