Horrington 145/10 Taunton Deane Cavalier 163/10
The Cavaliers travelled to Horrington for the first and lost the toss on a green wicket. Dave Stephenson and Phil Saxby started positively but were both dismissed for 12. Skipper Charlie Axon soon followed for 2 leaving the Cavaliers in a bit of bother. Hugh Bellamy and Graham Johnson had the job of rebuilding with both playing positively until Johnson was dismissed for 22. Ben Osborne contributed 15 as the Cavaliers looked to be setting a competitive total until Bellamy was dismissed for 46. Another mini collapse followed, and it was left to last wicket pair Ryan Marsh and Steve Giles to make an invaluable partnership of 32 to give a completive total of 163 with Marsh scoring an excellent 34 not out.
The Cavaliers knew that they needed quick wickets if they were to stand any chance but despite a tight opening spell from Steve Giles the Horrington openers moved to 60 with Fear despatching any bad bowling to the boundary. Matt Kingdom produced a probing spell beating the beat regularly and got the breakthrough after a fine catch from Osborne. With the score on 90 Giles removed the dangerous Fear for 66 and got another wicket after Dave Stephenson produced a fine one-handed catch at slip. Harry Phillips was producing a fine head of steam bowling with great pace and accuracy picking two wickets up in quick succession. With Cavaliers on a roll only Parson offered any resistance with 16 as Ben Osborne and Graham Johnson ripped out the tail sharing 5 wickets as they dismissed Horrington for 145 in the last over to win by 18 runs.
