The annual GT Memorial Game will take place this Saturday 11th September when a Taunton Deane GT X1 led by Sam Shaikh take on the Somerset Stragglers at the Deane.

The match commemorates the memory and service of Geoff Turner, a stalwart of both Taunton Deane Cricket Club and Somerset Stragglers Cricket Club for over 30 years.

Geoff is fondly remembered as an enthusiastic player, umpire and wicket-keeper. Once he retired from work running the business at Westcountry and Wales Wholesale, it was not unusual for GT to either play or umpire in over 70 fixtures a season with many of those matches accounted for playing for the Deane or Stragglers in matches across the region.

Both the Deane side and Stragglers team will contain a number of players who played with Geoff for both TDCC and the Somerset Stragglers as well as many other local clubs over the years.

Please come down to support both teams, a presentation follow the end of the game where the winning team will be presented with the Geoff Turner Trophy.
