Cavaliers vs Huish & Langport

The Cavaliers made it 3 wins out of three with a crushing victory against Huish & Langport. After losing the toss and being invited to bat the Cavaliers made steady progress on a tricky track through Dave Stephenson (25) and Shayan Akthar (15). Their dismissals saw captain Charlie Axon and Vice-Captain Ryan Marsh rebuilding the innings after a slow start Axon and Marsh began to increase the run rate with a mixture of good running and powerful striking from Marsh. Marsh was first to his fifty closely followed by Axon as the pair put on 115 for the third wicket. After Axon departed for 54 and Marsh for 67, Ben Coomber (34) and Tom Burgess (21 Not out) kept the run rate up, to plunder 50 more runs in the last 5 overs to give the Cavaliers an imposing total of 237 for the loss of 5 wickets.

Tom Walsh picked up where he left off from last week picking up three wickets in his opening spell of bowling with good pace and control. A sharp piece of fielding from Shayan Akthar at point, saw a run out from a direct hit. Ed Mellor bowled well from the other end without any luck as batsman played and missed and nearly played on, on a number of occasions. Steve Giles and Ben Redwood continued the carnage as Giles picked up two wickets (5-4-3-2) and Redwood 3 (5-3-6-3 leaving the home side struggling at 35 for 9. A recovery of sorts from Jones and Jenkinson saw Langport reach 55 before the returning Walsh picked up his fourth wicket bowling Jones for 9.
