Taunton Deane Cavaliers embarked on there new league campaign with a good 18 run win at a strong North Petherton team.
Having lost the toss TDCC was put into bat on what looked like a very green wicket. Openers Stevo and Josh were steady to start building a good innings until Josh nicked behind with the score on 16-1. Val came in and the run rate upped. Stevo playing very well until he got run out unluckily, by the bowler getting a touch on the ball, which sent the ball onto his wicket in the 30th over.
Val continued to time the ball and finally got to 100. Marsh was in fine form with the bat scoring a very quick 34. Cavs finished on 231-2.
With tea all done Skipper Mckee gave the new ball too two debutantes in Matt Kingdom and Robin Liney. Both bowled well with 1 wicket to Robins name in the first 10 overs, very tight bowling with good fielding to back the bowlers up. Marsh was brought on and it paid off with him getting 2 wickets in his first spell.
There was a little fight back from the North Petherton batsman T.Lambert 71 (Dropped 3 times). He was finally dismissed when Matt Kingdom got him to hole out on the boundary, where Josh Mynett took a very good catch.
Finally Marsh got a snick to Toby Stone who kept well in his first game for the Cavs.
Pick of the bowlers was Marsh with 8.1.44.3 and Matt Kingdom 8.1.19.1
A good start for the Cavs who will want to build on a good start to the season when they play Taunton A on Saturday
