Under 11 A home to Fitzhead

Deane hosted fellow undefeated Fitzhead in a top of the table clash.

Ben Squire winning the toss inserted the 7 man Fitzhead team. The Deane nominated one of their batsman to bat twice and we also gave them a fielder for their bowling innings.

A tight opening over by Josh Nelson was followed by a sensational over by Oliver Searle who took a hat trick bowling all 3. Congratulations Oliver you've achieved something at 9 that your 44 year old coach has never achieved. Oliver's Hat trick put Fitzhead well and truly on the back foot. A run out next over not helping their cause.
It took their second pairing to get them back into the positive with some positive hitting and at the 1/2 way mark they were on 211. They did lose one wicket a fine stumping by Jacob Searle.

Fitzhead now needed to accelerate and set the Deane a target to defend. 2 wickets a the right time to George Jarrett who bowled well made sure they never got away and with some tight last few overs Fitzhead posted 249. A challenging but very gettable target.

In reply the Deane need a solid start and thanks to a very good opening partnership form Josh and George who put on 32 runs in just 4 overs. Both batting very well. Josh with 3 4's and well struck 6.
Next up Jacob and Elliot who despite a slow start managed to score well towards the end of their 4 overs leaving the score at half way on 250 1 run ahead. Jacob with 2 4's and a nice 6.

From there is was like a test match, we were ahead but if we lost wickets we could still end up behind. first up Tom and Oliver lost 1 wicket but managed to score 11 runs leaving us on 256 with 4 overs to go.
Last pairing Ben and Theo then safely played out the last four overs putting on just 5 runs but insuring victory was achieved.

Well done all on a great victory against a good team.

With 2 games to go 2 victories would seal the title but 1 loss is likely to be costly as Fitzhead two remaining games are very winnable and they may end up with a higher run rate.
