U13 Dynamos Best Performance Of The Season

Our U13 Dynamos faced top-of-the-table Bagborough at Blagdon Hill on Friday night. It was a first match for Adam Ponte & Jacob Chattell & one to remember!

Electing to field first, James Salt & Will Herdman opened the bowling to the strong Bagborough top order. Atul (16) & Nick raced to a 51 run partnership in only seven overs. This onslaught was halted when Thando Mlotshwa (2-0-9-1), who was bowling with much more control in this match, but still with some good pace, clean-bowled the dangerous Nick(24). Freddie Jarrett (2-0-15-3) was proving a handful with his off cutters and he picked up three more wickets thanks to a sharp catch by Alex Fish and by bowling Luca (5) and then Bertie(0). Will Herdman held onto a fierce drive at extra cover to dismiss opening bat Atul and give Alex Fish (2-0-11-1) his wicket. Bagborough, having been 51-0 were now 78-5. Finley Robbins 1-0-4-1 took the next wicket as Thando moved quickly in from mid-off to take a catch. Now 83-6.

Enter ....Dara Farmer ... who was rested this week, but due to Findlay Stuart & Seb Leavy dropping was in the starting line up came on to produce the performance of the game. He clean-bowled Jack (0) & Herick (0) .... and took a very casual one-handed catch to dismiss Monty (8). A fantastic hat-trick ..... well done Dara! Adam Ponte (1-0-8-0) bowled a tidy over of his leg spin, but it was debutant Jacob Chattell who claimed the final wicket when he bowled Jonny (0). Bagborough were all out for 96 runs.

James Salt & Alex Fish opened cautiously at first as the faced the leg spin of Luca Gregory and Atul. They soon found their timing though ; both hitting boundaries through mid-on. It was Alex (11) who was out first as he was bowled in the fourth over by Atul (2-0-16-1). Charlie Fleming promoted up the order tried to take the attack to the opposition, but when he stepped down the wicket to drive he was stumped. James (21) continued to play some impressive shots, but he too attempted another big drive was out; bowled by Bertie. The Dynamos were now 34-3. Will Herdman joined Freddie Jarrett (7) at the wicket and they put together an important 30 run partnership before a rush of blood from Freddie saw him run himself out. The score was now 64-4 .... still 33 runs to get!

Thando (5no) ... who was having a good game ... gave Will (18no) great support and the two players picked up a number singles and twos to keep the score moving. In the 13th over Will drove once more through the covers to hit the winning runs. TD Dynamos reached 97-4 to win by 6 wickets.

This was our best team performance of the season, with all players contributing to a very good win. Our bowling was more accurate, our fielding impressive, but most pleasing of all our batting was much more productive. Batsmen were positive without being reckless; selecting appropriate shots to the balls they faced. Well done to everyone!
